Having returned to a largely hardware based compositional approach, the majority of these tracks found their genesis in freeform improvised jams that were fleshed out into full arrangements. The album title is deliberately meant to imply several metaphors that look back on events of recent years whilst rediscovering musical roots with a scant regard for how others may perceive the end result.
With a future retro approach to acid, techno, idm, clicks and cuts, ambience and a clear referencing of film noir soundtracks the album has an overriding thematic arch that makes for a compelling listen.
Written, arranged, composed, programmed, engineered and produce by the artist himself and mastered by Joseph Carra. VennDiagram would like to thank the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin for their collaboration on Future Imperfect, a composition created for the "Into the New World" project.
Extra thanks to the crew at Roland Canada, Paul McCabe, Andrew Kilpatrick of Kilpatrick Audio, everyone at Elektron HQ and Korg for such inspired tools. To Arovane, Biologik, Sebastian Koenig, Johann Fanger, Friends and Family with special thanks to Rob for being a critical second ear, providing a great working environment and for all the support you bring to the table.
Special shout out to Little Birds, Akasha FX, Etheric Loopz, Hughes Giboulay, Tripnotik, Liza Nicklin, Van Ark, Foltin & Co.
All of this would not have been possible without you.
Dedicated to the memory of my loving Father. A life less lived is a life more ordinary.
For this LP, Formen modified old 16bit effects units which were then cascaded via internal patch points to develop a glitchy sound. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 18, 2021
